Dismissal Procedures & Reminders

As we establish our dismissal routines for the new school year, thank you for helping keep our Narwhals safe. Following our carpool and walker procedures helps protect pedestrians, reduce congestion, and ensure a safe and efficient dismissal for all.

Carpool Procedures

  • If you drive to pick up your student, use the NAWL carpool line. Do not park in surrounding neighborhoods and walk to campus for student pick-up.
  • Remain in your vehicle throughout the carpool process. Staff will assist students with getting to their vehicles.
  • Display your NAWL carpool tag clearly.
  • Ensure students know their carpool number; staff can assist as needed.
  • Once a carpool number is called, students will be directed to a colored cone to wait for their vehicle.
  • Follow staff directions and posted signs regarding when and where to move your vehicle.
  • Observe the posted speed limit and all traffic laws on campus and in the surrounding neighborhood.
  • Do not block crosswalks, intersections, driveways, fire hydrants, or pedestrian pathways.

Walker Procedures

  • Students who are walkers must be designated as walkers through the NAWL transportation process. This transportation mode should also be clearly communicated with your student’s teacher.
  • Walker dismissal is intended for students who walk home from school with an authorized adult. Do not park in surrounding neighborhoods and walk to campus for student pick-up.
  • At dismissal, parents/guardians should bring their NAWL transportation tag to the walker queue and sign out their student with the designated staff member.
  • Use designated pedestrian routes and cross only at appropriate crosswalks.
  • All walkers should be picked up by 4:30 PM.
